The 5th annual Bishopstock Music Festival has become the latest victim of the foot and mouth epidemic hitting Europe. The Festival was scheduled to be held on May 26-28, 2001 in Devon, England. Since the rural Devon area has been hard hit by the Foot & Mouth Disease, the organisers were left with no choice but to move the event.
The new tentative dates for the event is August 25-27, 2001, as confirmed in a news release by Helen Meyers, Executive Producer of the Festival.
The Bishopstock Festival pumps over US$10,000,000 into the local economy. The event features prime blues, soul and gospel heavyweights including Buddy Guy, Taj Mahal, Michael Hill's Blues Mob, Shemekia Copeland, Charlie Musselwhite, Susan Tedeschi, Joe Louis Walker, Koko Taylor and many more.
The Temple of Blues Crew would like to take this opportunity (on behalf of all our worshippers) to wish the Bishopstock organising committee the best of luck in continuing the production of this landmark festival, despite the immense challenges which are now before them.
