IMY opinion, the car that represents blues the best would be a black 4 door Continental, ragtop with suicide doors. Kinda like the one the Brothers had. I'd like to know what is your opinion on this!

Yeah, it's obvious from your profile that you're a mechanical engineer... how to transform a blues forum into a discussion about wheels

Then again, I'm sucked in, and I pretty much agree... that's what I would envision as the blues mobile, a topless, classic big iron machine.

If we take it to a more fundamental level, my feeling is that the blues is something that is not associated with material objects (such as cars, homes, watches, suits, etc.) On the contrary, if you think about it, blues music is in some way (IMHO) a form of expression that is an escape from the materialistic obsessions of the last century - at least in the western hemisphere.

I'm a massive music fan, and also have some pretty strong social opinions, and in some ways I see a correlation between our blues heroes, punk rock (Clash, Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedys), and hip hop/rap (Public Enemy, NWA, Tupac, Notorious BIG, EPMD, Beastie Boys, etc.)

They represent 3 extremely diverse musical styles, but the fundamentals remain very familiar: "the underdog expressing his or her soul through music" ... the sad bluesman, the angry & independant punk rocker, the hip hop/rap person struggling against the bias of the "system". Similar causes, different rhythms, but fundamentally the same type of expression.

Hmmm, I suppose I've completely veered off the car tangent. hehehehe

I also agree with you views on this. Like the blues, some of our 'material' belongins might wake up feelings or thoughts. The melody of the wind while driving down an empty road, the superb sight of the city skyline wile driving into Montréal using the Champlain bridge at 1h00 in the morning. The whole enviroment (including the wheels) is part of the experience. Just imagine listening to Couldn't stand the weather, going 120 clicks on the 132 towards Montréal in a black Hummer...man thats baddazz! The soul part of the experience is the blues, I just love it when the music perfectly 'fits' the mood and captures the essence of the moment.

...and the blues maybe standing at the "crossroads" at midnight with an old accoustic guitar, listening to the wind blow.

I was about to respond to one of JaZZers posts saying that I was seeing the "typical" blues mobile as being a pickup truck... when I read what blues2u had to say...

What it seems to boil down to is that blues music is truly an emotional expression that lends itself to multiple scenarios - far more than most other commercial styles.

A Britney Spears song may be enjoyed by many a teen zooming down the highway, an nSync song while alone and heartbroken. But only a few musical genres (blues included) are so truly connected to the human spirit that they can actually be adapted to ones particular emotional status at any given time.

OK, my speech is almost over, hehee... but I think blues2u interjected at a most appropriate time - and provided the ultimate juxtaposition.

Peace,

eBuddha

The best Blues mobile is one with a C.D. player in it,what else do you need?It makes no differance how fast or how slow it goes,It's got to play the BLUES.
"I was born with the blues
I eat the blues
I sleep the blues
I know it's just,
Simply the truth"
