this year and he's gona kill the place. I just hope that people in the industry come here and read whatever we have to say. This is true, unfiltered comments from worshippers !MAKE Temple of Blues RULE! We need our voice to be recognized and this might just be the place.
Point and counterpoint, JaZZER; my feeling is that the gouging on the part of big name established artists will not kill the genre per se. It *will* however marginalize it. Do we really want to have only the well-to-do folks, or their kids, being able to appreciate the big names?
I don't know the industry well enough to know where this money is going, be it the artist, the manager, record label, touring co. or whatever, but like I mentioned in the other topic: as long as the tickets sell, the prices will stay up there ... more likely than not, they will keep climbing.
Concerning your other idea, yes, I think it's a great opportunity to have a community that is independant from any individual label or artist or corporate entity to advance the cause and the genre in itself.
As for industry people checking out these types of chat rooms or boards, I am certain they do. Perhaps I'm an idealist, but I've always believed in the power of the people...
