Went to my first Buudy Guy show on the 4th and it blew me away. I've been a fan for alot of years, but never had the opportunity to see him. He has to be the most intense person I've seen in a long time! The only low note of the show was that I missed getting him to sign my Stone Crazy album cause some jerk in front of me wouldn't hand him the album (there were half a dozen people he was also keeping from getting autographs - no he wasn't getting one). Maybe I can catch him again sometime.

Hey Smoore, I caught Buddy on BB's tour last Sept at Pier 6 in Baltimore. He blew me away as well. Buddy's on a completely different level from any guitarist I have ever seen. The amazing show I was watching seemed like just a glimpse of of what he had in him.
The closest I will ever get to Hendrix was that man diving into Voodoo Child(from the middle of another song... He plays at his club in Chicago regularly when he's home and I've gotta get there someday.

Was Buddy doing his routine tribute show? I've seen him perhaps 10+ times over the last decade and his show doesn't seem to waver too much. By tribute show, what I mean is was he doing all the covers of other people's music? You said he did "Voodoo Chile." Did he do anything by Cream, perhaps "Sunshine of Your Love" or something by Stevie Ray Vaughan? I would certainly like to see him do more of his own material, which has been pretty limited to "Damn Right I Got the Blues."

I saw him last summer on the BB King tour in Portland. He had Susan Tedeschi join him on stage for a little Stevie Ray Vaughan.

I'd like to see him at Legends. I hear he stretches out a lot more at these shows. But I've heard they're usually sold out a month in advance.

Hey guys, if you like Buddy Guy, you might want to check out these guys live performances, too:

Carl Weathersby, Larry McCray, Jimmy Thackery, Walter Trout, Roy Gaines.

If you want a taste of someone that Jimi learned first-hand from, catch Guitar Shorty in performance. He was married to Jimi's sister for a while and is a helluva stageman. Even does somersaults on stage while playing.
