Thought I'd enlighten everybody about a show that I am currently producing with the Cascade Blues Association in Portland, OR.

It is called the Willamette Delta Showcase, to be held on Saturday, March 10. This is the second year in a row that this show will take place; last year's featured Phoenix-area bluesman Hans Olson, Paul Rishell & Annie Raines and the great Smokey Wilson backed by famed local musicians Robbie Laws on guitar, Paul deLay keyboardist Louis Pain and the great former Rod Piazza/Fabulous T-Bird drummer Jimi Bott.

This year's event is even going to be better:
Opening will be one of the best up-and-coming blues guitarists, Sean Chambers. Followed by the unknown O.C. Thomas, a guitarist/singer in his mid-70s making his public debut (sounds a lot like early Muddy Waters). After that will be the incredible Paul Oscher doing his solo show. Working between the harp, guitar and piano, the former Muddy Waters sideman recently won Blues Performer of the Year in L.A. Headlining the show this year will be the legendary Hubert Sumlin, one of the most influential guitarists of the past 50 + years.

I believe we've put together a great line-up, so if you're anywhere near Portland in early March, make sure to catch this one!!

Just thought I'd throw a reminder to anybody who will be in the Portland area next weekend to head to the Aladdin Theater and catch the Willamette Delta Showcase. How can you go wrong with two living blues legends like Hubert Sumlin and Paul Oscher on the same bill?

To make matters even brighter for us on the committee, we've just received a generous grant from the Allen Foundation of Music. It goes to show just how important music really plays a part in Mr. Allen's life (as if the EMP in Seattle wasn't a clear example of this anyway).

Hmmm... would that Allen Foundation grant be from the same Allen who happened to be involved in a few other highly succesfull ventures (such as computing?)

The one and the same that also owns a certain basketball team here in Portland and a football franchise in the Seattle area. The one with a good friend named Bill.
